A Case of Osteogenesis Imperfecta Congenita

Abstract

|
This 10 months old female was admitted to Ok Cheon St. Mary´s Hospital on Aug., 1974, because of growth failure, multiple bony anomalies of the extremities and blue sclera.
She was a product of 3rd baby with spontaneous normal delivery at home. During pregnancy her mother had no history of drug ingestion and exposure of radiation and also family problems were not detected.
During admission, ophthalmologic findings showed blue sclera, however, hearing disturbances could not be evaluated and laboratory tests were within normal limits except for anemia. X-ray findings revealed multiple healed fractures with bowing of the left forearm, bowing of the femurs, tibias and fibulas, wormian bone and egg-shell appearance of the skull.
The diagnosis was established by above clinical findings and multiple bony fractures on x-ray pictures and then this case was presented with a brief review of the literature.
